IND-ECO TOOLS

INDECO ORGANIZATIONAL TOOLS

Examples of selected documents, procedures, check-lists, forms, etc. have been collected to help and address companies, especially tanneries and shoe factories but not only, to design an Energy Management System (EMS) or – at least – an energy review and an energy monitoring system.

The set of tools is aimed to:

ENERGY AUDITS

The first step towards Energy Efficiency in the Tanning and Footwear Sector is to perform a standardised detailed analysis of all relevant aspects of energy consumption during the manufacturing process and from this to identify areas for the improvement of process efficiency.

IND-ECO has developed AUDIT tools, through:

INVENTORIES & EUROPEAN BENCHMARKS

IND-ECO developed EU- Benchmarks making possible the identification of the main factors and figures to approach correctly the energy efficiency, having a good initial analysis and main areas of a improvement in Energy Efficiency for companies.

IND-ECO TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS DATA BASE

IND-ECO Database provides public access to some Technical and Technological Solutions throughout Europe (over 150 solutions), supported by over twenty (20) Agreements/Letters of Support with/from Energy Efficient or Saving Technology providers, in order to pursue Energy Efficiency.

Solutions coming from European technologies market are available both general for European manufacturers and specific for shoe factories and tanneries interested in improving their energy efficiency.

By using different key words (filters), companies interested can look for the available solutions (devices).

LOW COST SOLUTIONS FOR TANNERIES AND FOOTWEAR COMPANIES

It is however important to emphasise that besides energy efficiency solutions identified through auditing and systematic measurements at the shop floor, more than ten “low cost” energy saving measures, have been identified and implemented with success during IND-ECO project, which, in turn, require a very small investment / change that companies in the footwear and tanning sector can realise in order to start using energy in a more efficient way.

INVENTORY OF FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS

IND-ECO also offers company users an Inventory of Financial Solutions, in conjunction with investment planning development tools (Investment Plan). Companies may use these to source finance for Energy Efficiency investments at favourable terms as well as already established channels and providers.

Financial Solutions comprise a palette of financing instruments available from Banks, ESCOs, Crowd Funding and Energy Efficiency Consortia, which are all available to companies in more than six (6) EU-countries.

Investments and investment plan

Starting - but not limited to - from audited companies, investment plans have been identified and developed.

Measures adopted or planned to improve energy efficiency included many different technical and “organisational” actions and solutions with a particular focus on “zero or low cost measures”.

Some examples: Actions to reduce energy demand; replacement, modification or addition of equipment or systems (IEE motors, inverter, etc.), improving of maintenance services, process optimisation, co-generation and Photovoltaic plants, automation systems, new efficient machineries and technologies.

A model of such an “action plan” has been developed to help companies in planning, managing and realising one or more investments in energy efficiency.

CO2 CLAIMS

Specific guidelines have been realised to valorise companies’ commitment into allocated new energy and CO2 performances to product units, as well as to correctly communicate them to the market.

The environmental communication is based on ISo 14020 and ISO 14067
